Food quality was good but item was missing after waiting for 1hr 45 min for the order. Restaurant did offer apologies and sent out complementary poppadoms with missing item but is 2nd time this has happened with the same restaurant. More attention to detail required as food is nice but the problems outweigh the quality of their food

I have waited a few days to write this review as I didn't want to rush into something without considering what I have just experienced at The Hollybrook. This was the first time we have been here, so didn't know what to expect. We booked a table online beforehand, which was a relatively painless process and our table was waiting for us when we arrived. The Holybrook serves food and it is one of those pubs where you find a table, pick your food and order at the bar. Simple enough, my wife and I both chose and I went to the bar to order food and drinks. Sadly, both of our first choices for meals was not available, or so we were told. So back to the table to choose again and then back to the bar. This time we ordered our food, paid and settled down to wait. Unfortunately, we were seated next to a door out of the building which stuck open when people left or entered. So rather than keep getting up we moved to another table and I told the waitress of our move and new table number. "No problem", she said. Happy days! Later, when we saw a different waitress walking around with 2 plates of food looking lost, we quickly caught her attention and confirmed it was our order. She left the plates on our table and left. The food on both plates was truly, the WORST meal we have been served in a pub, EVER! Some of the smallest portions I have ever seen and my Chicked Snitzel had been grilled to within an inch of it's life, burnt and so dry that the BBQ sauce and cheese on the top were desiccated. The chips were cold and the side salad was so small and lifeless as to be considered an afterthought. My wife had the scampi and chips with garden peas - 10 very small scampi pieces, cold chips and 27 peas! To add injury to this miserable experience, the couple next to us had their food delivered just as we were leaving! The lady also had a Chicken Snitzel with so much BBQ sauce and cheese it was almost swimming in it and the gentleman was served the dish I told was off!!...and it looked amazing!! Sadly, we will not be returning as the food was a complete disappointment and the staff member who cleared our plates didn't seem bothered even after we mentioned it! Clearly, there is no pride in the kitchen in what they serve their paying guests.

One night stay in May 2025 - this hotel is starting to look very tired, there is refurbishment happening right now. Room was quite dated, and although nobody expects luxury from a Premier Inn - I would say that until the refurb is complete you should take this as a 2 star. Room was quite warm, no air con, and limited window opening. Bathroom / toilet not overly clean - quite stained. Free parking for hotel residents is a plus - but unless the location is vital to you I'd avoid until the refurb is complete ..

Well what a sad review to write. The team have been pulled apart under the closure terms, many of which have been made redundant from a career they have worked in for decades. Until the news it has always been great food and great service. Understandable that they slipped a bit given the circumstances. Thank you all for your years of service to us all. All the best for the whole team for the future. Derby will miss The Mallard!

Good music and good value drinks. Have not been for a very long time and it has changed since I last went (no longer serves food and more open plan than it was). Won't leave it as long until I next go,

I recently ordered a shish kebab, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The meat was extremely tough, and after consuming only a few pieces, it didn’t sit well with me. I ended up with an upset stomach throughout the night, although I wasn’t physically sick. In hindsight, I’m relieved I didn’t finish the meal. At £9.50, it felt like a complete waste. Foodhub support responded promptly and arranged for 3Chefs to contact me. I explained the situation and was told that someone named Sunny would call me back the following day. Unfortunately, that call never came. Given this experience, I cannot recommend the food from this establishment. I hadn’t ordered a kebab or pizza from here in quite some time due to previous instances of feeling unwell, but I decided to give it another try. That turned out to be a poor decision, and I will be seeking alternative options going forward.
